General Meeting – Wednesday 10th July

Our lovely guest speaker Lorena Uriarte shared a little of the convoluted path which has led to her current career in patchwork and quilting. Lorena then showed a selection of her amazing quilts and spoke about each, sharing tips, tricks, inspiration and anecdotes. Every quilt was interesting, colourful and personal. See more photos . . .

Congratulations Lorena and thank you very much.

Following her Show and Share, guest speaker Lorena Uriarte judged the ‘Most Gorgeous Pincushion’. Congratulations to the winner Pam P for her Warratah pincushion and runner-up Denise L for her Australian animals pincushion. See more photos . . .

These beautiful pincushions will be sent to Japan as part of a gift to the Shinobu Patchwork Appreciation Society.

Thank you

Why photos of lambs?

As part of our Community Assistance Program Noleen knitted and donated a set of NRL team jumpers for orphaned lambs. This story was featured in the ABC News https://www.abc.net.au/news/2019-06-13/orphaned-lambs-don-jumpers-as-winter-drought-bites/11176200

Aussie Hero Quilts (and Laundry bags) - ongoing

Joy Hodges gave an inspiring talk at the May General Meeting, an abridged version of her talk was in the June newsletter. There is an ongoing need for quilts and laundry bags and there is a block of the month program too.

According to Aussie Hero Quilts blogspot:

This blog is dedicated to encouraging people to make quilts and laundry bags to send to Aussie service men and women currently serving overseas and to express our gratitude for their service. We care about the people - not the politics or the mission. Our quilts are not works of art, but works of the heart.
