25 year Membership celebrations in October

Carousel imageCarousel imageCarousel image

At the October General Meeting we celebrated Members who have been members of Illawarra Quilters Inc for 25 years.

Each Member shared one of their first quilts, a more recent one and a little of their patchwork and quilting adventures. After this the Member was presented with their 25 year pin.

Congratulations to everyone. Without your continued support, involvement, sharing of skills and enthusiasm our club would not be as friendly, caring and as vibrant as it is.

A light supper was shared after the formal proceedings.

Scent Hearts for Wollongong Hospital's Neonatal Unit

Scent Hearts are made of cotton flannelette and are worn next to the skin of mother and father to absorb their scent. These are then placed with their baby in the neonatal unit so that the baby can bond with their parents even when they are not physically present.

Thank you to the Members who have co-ordinated, created and distributed these caring gifts.

Instructions are available on the Community Assistance page. Kits and instructions are also available at gatherings in Corrimal.

Aussie Hero Quilts and Laundry bags - ongoing

There is an ongoing need for quilts and laundry bags and there is a block of the month program too. According to Aussie Hero Quilts blogspot:

This blog is dedicated to encouraging people to make quilts and laundry bags to send to Aussie service men and women currently serving overseas and to express our gratitude for their service. We care about the people - not the politics or the mission. Our quilts are not works of art, but works of the heart.
