The Annual Illawarra Quilters' Birthday Challenge

The members at the March 2019 meeting chose the winning Birthday Challenge Quilt as well as two supplementary winners. Congratulations to Pam and Virginie. A big thanks also to Bernadette Hoy from My Sewing Supplies who donated the gifts to our runners up.

Thank you to all the ladies who entered quilts in the challenge. Your thoughtful interpretations of the words and images in the poem 'My Country’ by Dorothea Mackellar' were very inspiring and your use of techniques, new and old to depict the different landscapes across our country were relevant. Reflections on your own travels and experiences featured in your ideas on how best to represent the land that Dorothea also knew.

Pam's entry number 7 won the 2019 Birthday Challenge and her other entry number 8 was one of the supplementary winners.

Virginie's entry number 4 was also a supplementary prize winner.
